About Steven

My name is Steven Petruzzella, and I have always had a deep passion for people. I love building relationships and just experiencing life with other people and in other perspectives. Several years ago I was called to Africa on an Immersion trip. I spent (6) months there and stayed with (3) separate host families. One particular host family was in a more rural area, and had no running water or electricity. As challenging as it was for me at first, I grew to love it. I fell in love with the beauty of that lifestyle and the simplicity of it. I build lifelong friendships, and people I still consider family today.
Now, several years later at 29 years old, God is calling me to a new journey that I hope to spend the rest of my life doing. I have started an organization called Rooted Outreach. We plan to reach rural areas of the world for the foreseeable future to experience their culture and people in a similar way. We plan to live within their villages and communities with them, eat what the eat, and just experience their way of life in the most raw way that we can. As we continue building relationships and doors continue to open by the grace of God, we will plant our Rooted vision within each community, and send teams out to experience the same things. With this, we support host families that host our teams and get with each village to help them build a few projects that they feel that they need. We don’t go in and tell them what they need, we live along side them and let them tell us what they need. Through support from teams going on the trip and private donations, we will help the village build what they feel that they need. I hope to create lasting relationships and show a different side of the world in a way that nobody has before. The goal is to bring more clarity to what so many see as a negative thing; a less fortunate thing. We see it as a blessing, and I hope to be able to share that in a way that the rest of the world could see the beauty of it as well.
Each host family will be paid for hosting our teams, and we will also help to pay for food and other needs so that each team member and family is supported. The ultimate goal is to just build relationships and experience new ways of life and share what we have learned with others. We hope to be a light to each community, and glorify God in it.
I know how life-changing an experience like that can be, and we are blessed to be a ministry that people can use to experience this life-changing journey for themselves.
Sincerely,
Steven
